Aquadventures
“Sea” Terranea from a different perspective.
Terranea’s resident naturalists will take you to one of their favorite spots on the coast: a tide pool rich with plant life and sea creatures like anemones, sea stars and shellfish. Participants must be 4 years or older.
Surfing in the South Bay
You don’t need to be a seasoned surfer to experience the thrill of cutting through your first wave. Grab a surfboard and let an instructor guide you through the basics. Offered year-round. Participants must be 8 years or older.
Stand-up Paddleboarding
Get on your feet and glide up the Palos Verdes coast. Along the way, observe the incredible kelp beds, an endless ecosystem often referred to as an underwater rainforest. Participants must be 10 years or older.
Cruise out into the Pacific in search of bottlenose dolphins, sea lions, whales and bat rays, all while paddling through the Catalina Channel’s famous underwater reserve. Participants must be 8 years or older.
During migration season, guests may enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the Pacific grey whale, either by charter boat or binoculars from the resort bluff. Those taking the harbor cruise will enjoy narration from an experienced marine biologist on the characteristics of this amazing mammal. Perfect for the entire family.
Get the best view of the ocean—from above! A highly experienced pilot will take you on an aerial tour, with vistas of Catalina Island, the Southern California coastline and Los Angeles County. Don’t forget your camera!
Terradventures
Experience our land firsthand.
First introduced to the resort in 2009, this popular attraction brings visitors up close with these magnificent birds of prey. During these special presentations, guests can learn about the general characteristic of the birds and view a flight demonstration alongside the expert falconer. Perfect for the entire family.
As part of a greater effort to preserve the natural integrity of this stunning stretch of Pacific coastline, Terranea encourages guests to explore the ecological landscapes that surround the resort. Walk through the coastal sage and view some of the area’s wild inhabitants, including the California gnatcatcher, Allen’s hummingbird or the El Segundo blue butterfly. Participants must be 4 years or older.
